This article was in the July 8 West Carleton Review dealing with Mr. O'Briens entry into the Mayoralty Race.

I do have two comments related to the highlighted items.

The first is simply to point out that council is elected for 4 years and in the case of the current council, 19 of the 23 councillors have served two consecutive term together. Stating you all played well for in the last six months does not absolve you or all of the current council from being held accountable for the entire term which you were elected. This leads into the second point, and it is one which I pointed out2 weeks ago in the West Carleton Review where I stated that challenging an elected politicians past record is not a cheap shot, it is part of the democratic process. Mr. El-Chantiry feels I am attacking him or not taking the 'high road' and in the next breath, infers that I haven't stated what I would do different. To that, I will simply point out that I have identified a number of items that I would do once elected since I entered the campaign and continue to do so. I would invite you to infer exactly what the incumbent thinks "the high road"
is given that singular highlighted parargraph.
